It begins...again

Last week was the official kick off of my new cycle. I had the pre-requisite blood work and wanding. I don't know the results of the blood work, they never tell me but I was able to see that I still have one uterus and two ovaries. They are right where I left them. I got to see my regular RE and he recommended that a culture be done because at one point in my life I had some flora or fauna issue and they like to check for that. Sorry, I was not really paying attention.

My RE almost never does GYN type exams. They all get done by my GYN at another practice which is covered by my insurance. Unfortunately too, my regular RE has never been working during any of my transfers. So I have never had my RE use the old metal/plastic speculum contraption. I braced my self for the prying open, the ratcheting noise, the pinching, the pushing and bullying of my lovely and shy cervix, and the poking, prodding, and swiping of the extra tall Q*tip....but NONE of that happened. Instead, I felt nothing. Yes I felt the placement of the the iron jaws, but nothing else. No pain, no wincing, no shifting around, no bullying the cervix. Seamless, painless, a.ma.zing! I think I love this guy. How great would it be to have HIM do the transfer and not one of the other 5 speculum wielding REs from the practice. I am going to ask specifically for him and hope that he will say yes.

Most ironically about him is that of the 6 other REs in the practice he is one of only two that have children. The woman who started the practice did so after her two children were grown up. He is the only one with kids, and small ones at that. He has two that are between 8 and 11. Funny.

So on Monday I will have my first Lupron shot in a year (remember we did this last year, right at this time). I got all the drugs for the cycle on Friday. Then Tuesday I will go see the nice finance (mobster) lady to discuss the balance of my account. (gulp)

IVF Roller coaster readiness assessment.

1. Approach the apparatus (thank you Bella Karolyi)...Check
2. Firmly plant tush in seat...Check
3. Snap and tighten the safety belt...are you kidding? This thing has NO safety device of any kind...Unchecked
4. Grip on, close eyes, hold breath...not checked, not yet. In a few more weeks.

I knew September would come someday. Good luck!

I started Lupron three days ago for a 9/8 transfer. Here's hoping for BFPs for both of us!
